Hamilton Lavity Stoutt's Birthday

Stoutt served as Chief Minister for 10 years. During his time in office, he oversaw the development of the British Virgin Islands from a small, underdeveloped colony into a thriving tourist destination. He also played a key role in the negotiations that led to the British Virgin Islands gaining full internal self-government in 1984.

Stoutt died on May 14, 1995. He was 66 years old. His death was a great loss to the British Virgin Islands. He was a visionary leader who dedicated his life to the betterment of his country.
